"He will arrive tonight."

The Legend Of Heliodor: The Crystal Spirits

In the distance, watching over the small house stood two mysterious figures darkened in the wintery, night shadows. Their eyes glistened as they were caught by the light of the full moon and the smaller man said “He will arrive tonight.”

The two men secretly watched under the cloak of the night.

The room was small and cluttered, but very homely and welcoming. Strangely carved ornaments made of wood, rocks and minerals balanced on crooked shelves near leaning cupboards. Hanging wall tapestries appeared dull in the low flickering candlelight. A few dream catchers dangled among the shadows from the low beamed ceiling, while the air was full of fragranced smells escaping from a recently extinguished incense burner. It was a curious little room belonging to a curious little house and everything was contained within this one room.

There was even a bed in this hectic little room.

Galena was lying on the bed; her good friend Jade was leaning over her, mopping her brow and making her comfortable. But the pain was getting worse. Jade’s husband, Euclase, was outside the house with Celestine who was becoming more and more frantic with anguish as the icy night lingered...

Those prophetic words "He will arrive tonight."
Nobody could possibly imagine the significance of those words or just what would lay ahead
for the small valley settlement.

Watchers

Rainbows at Night - The Poems of Clive Culverhouse

Watchers

The Heliodorians delight in tales and stories. They entertain, they amuse and they scare.

Here’s one such passage that is often told around a dark night’s fire, especially out in the open of a forest clearing – for what does hide in the trees?

Whatever or whoever hides, be careful it or they don’t get you…

Watchers

they see you

they smell you

look behind you

Watchers

They know you

Watchers

with eyes on you

with knowledge on you

Look around you

Watchers

They invade you

Watchers

can shake you

can control you

Look at you

Watchers

They frighten you

Watchers

come to you

come for you

Look upon you

Watchers

They get you

Watchers

will eat you

will shrink you

Look within you

Watchers

They have you

A good read - fantasiareviews.com

Fantasia Reviews

A good read

Considerable originality and effort on the part of the author to put forth a fantastic tale.

The story
This is where Mister Culverhouse truly shines. Without giving anything away, Mister Culverhouse has created a story and world full of wonder and originality, without feeling too much like a derivative of the great fantasies that came before.
He uses his plethora of original ideas to build his world and create something that is truly unique. His love of gems and stones shines brightly in many details of the story, and he uses this knowledge in a way that enhances the story and lends credence to his world.

Overall
Without a doubt, The Legend of Heliodor: The Crystal Spirits is a great book for any young reader looking for something readable and enjoyable. It stands out in the genre for its originality and colorful characters but falters on occasion in its use of awkward language and improper formatting.

The author's reply

I'll be honest, what I've posted above are the best parts and the most positive parts of a longer review. The full review is quite mixed and written from a very thorough and critical eye. On a first read through, it may seem to be somewhat negative talking about the technical side of the book, formatting, etc but actually the review is honest and constructive.

What does stand out though and there can be no mistake is that The Legend Of Heliodor: The Crystal Spirits is considered by the reviewer to be a fantastic tale, very original and full of wonder and most importantly - a good read!

A review or comment is still only someone's opinion so why not make up your own mind and download the book today and start reading this fantastic tale of a wonderful magical world.

The Power of Crystals

A Spellbinding Tale of the Power of Crystals

In a world governed by the nature of the land, crystals are worshipped by the people of Heliodor.

The Creation Myth of the Heliodorian People
(Taken from History of the Heliodorian Land and its People, The King’s Library, Chalcedony)

All was a dust and grain cloudiness.
And the dust and grain formed and grew.
It grew to lay forth the land and it grew further still giving forth yet further land and this growing land delivered mountains and valleys.
There was land below, there was sky above.
And thence, a rock fell from the sky to the land.
It broke in two halves.
From one half came Mankind and all the animals, insects, birds and fish, the crops, trees and plants and the goodness of life and prosperity and all was good and all lived side by side.
But from the other half came the Fire-Tongue dragons and all that is evil and the evil tugged at the good.
The Fire-Tongue dragons set against man and woman…

From that first rock that fell, all of nature’s minerals, gemstones and crystals are sacred and give the energy force and guidance that ALL seek through their lives.

When a life expires it is put back in the ground, where its essence began. From the ground the soul of the deceased is infused into rock and mineral where its crystals and gems provide the help and guidance for the future generations.

This is what gives the crystals of Heliodor their powers. They are sacred and cherished by all.
